In the US, the UK and Canada, many hospitals, clinics and labs can send your records to the Health app from Apple, where you can see them and choose which apps may read them.
Connect your providers in the Health app
- Open the Health app on your iPhone and tap your picture or initials at the top right.
- Tap Health Records, then Get Started or Add Account.
- Search for your hospital, clinic or lab, and sign in with your patient portal account, the one you use on the provider's website.
Apple's directory lists more than 18,600 US locations, among them providers on Epic, Oracle Health, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, MEDITECH and NextGen, and Quest, Labcorp and the VA. Each provider decides what it shares: often lab results, medications, conditions, allergies, immunizations, procedures and visit notes.
Where Health Records isn't offered
Ask your provider for your records: most have a patient portal or a records request form, and in the US you have a right to a copy of your medical records. Download them as a PDF, or take clear photos of paper reports.
In Vitaspan
In its next update, Vitaspan can read the records in the Health app from Apple: you connect once in Settings → Apple Health → Health Records, and new results join your charts with the lab's own flags and ranges. Until then, and for providers outside Health Records, add their reports as a PDF or a photo, in any language; with Vitaspan Plus, Claude reads them for you.
